When You Give a Photographer a Model, Cape, and Sword…

A woman with a crown stands like a renaissance era portrait, holding a sword, wearing a cape, and with a halo around her head.

I almost don’t want to even type words, and just let the photos speak for themselves. But, that’d crush my SEO and I do want people to see these, sooooo…

First off, let me be transparent and say that I have historically sucked at setting up creative shoots for myself. I have so much anxiety about asking someone to model for me in any kind of concept, and then them resenting me for it. Is it logical? No. Is that ever what happens? Also no. But that’s what my brain tells me. So one of my goals for myself in 2024 is to do more fun, creative shoots and put myself out there!

Last year (lol, last year makes it sound forever ago) my friend Alexa mentioned being totally down for photoshoots. And I was ecstatic! Not only was she down to clown, but she had tons of cool outfits that got me all sorts of inspired. And instead of being anxious and feeling like a burden, I was excited. When I saw she had a sword and a cape and a crown, I got our first creative shoot idea.

We went with a warrior queen vibe for this shoot in the fall. A queen who is sort of forlorn, has seen death, pulls no punches, and suffers no fools. And also, a queen who looks into her crystals and sees the future. She’s a pretty BA queen, if you ask me, and I think we hit the nail on the head.

Aren’t they a dream?!

I absolutely want to do more creative, dress-up, outlandish shoots akin to this one! Especially if you want to be your own kind of queen. No sword necessary! If that sounds up your alley, you should slide into my contact form. And as always, feel free to grab some inspiration from my Pinterest and my Instagram!
